On Monday of last week the remains of Mrs. Frazier, best known to us as Jessie Freeman, were brought to this place from Hillsboro for burial. ‘Tis sad that one so young and fair, not yet twenty, must pass away, but God knew best and our loss is heaven’s gain.

Again God in his infinite power has seen fit to call from our midst another beloved sister, Mrs. Jessie Frazier, who departed this life February 7, 1897. The funeral services were conducted at the home of the deceased by Rev. Trotter of Darlington, and the remains were laid to rest in the Wesley cemetery. Although her sufferings were great she bore them with patience and without a murmur until at last the angel of Death
came and carried her spirit home to its giver. When her friends gathered around the coffin to take a last look of all that remained of the dear one, they could not realize that she had lived and suffered death, but looked as one fresh from the hands of God waiting for the breath of life. It Is hard to think that one just in the bloom of youth should be forced so early to lie down by the roadside and rest before half her journey on earth was completed. She was a kind and loving daughter and had a good word for everyone she met. It will teach us the awful lesson that death is sure and that life is uncertain. We will all endeavor to so live that we shall meet her in the great beyond. She was a member of the Liberty Christian church and a good Christian worker in church and Sunday school. She leaves a dear mother, a kind and losing husband and a large host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss.    --- transcribed by Kim H
